
Extended School Year (ESY)
If the IEP team has not discussed ESY yet, reach out to the school to ask for an IEP meeting to do so. To qualify for ESY the IEP team must discuss the student’s regression after school breaks longer than five days, student’s ability to benefit from reteaching, and the student’s emerging skills.
Be sure an ask for specific DATA from the District on what guided them on making their determination for ESY. Look for work samples and other various assessments prior and after the school break.
