Linsey Krauss, Esq.
I began my career in special education over 20 years ago as an instructional aide. I worked my way through college as an instructional aide and substituting for a variety of special education classes. Upon graduating from law school, I entered a credentialing program to become a special education teacher in hopes of being able to change the way our children with disabilities are educated. I was a teacher, program specialist, and coordinator of special education working on the side of the school district in Southern California for 15 years. During my time as a special educator, I learned the IEP process and sat through countless IEP meetings, resolution sessions, and mediations. I also saw how children with disabilities could easily fall through the cracks of a broken education system leaving them without the services and supports they are legally entitled to receive.
My path to becoming a special education attorney for parents began after five years of fighting for my own children against our local school district. I am a parent to three children, all of whom have various disabilities ranging from mild to severe. As a parent, I filed due process numerous times as the school district continued to fail my children. Having been through a due process hearing as a parent, I understand the emotional toll it can have on families. I strive to represent each family how I would want to be represented.
Many people ask how as a former “District” person I can represent families. Let me assure you that holding the District accountable, ensuring they follow the law, and pushing back when needed is what I will unapologetically do.
